Bio
Stupid Genius blazes heavy urban rythms by fusing crisp acoustic instruments with electronic vibes, getting the heads nodding, cyphers moving, trunks rockin', and the booties shaking. These cleverly crafted instrumentals draw a fine line between urban and tribal, designed for "sticky" lyrics, those that sound catchy but are packed with meaning. The strength of this producer is displayed through his delicate balance of opposites, hard and smooth, analog and digital, stupid and genius...

Independently producing since 1999, the music of stupid genius (a.k.a. Matt Nawada) has been featured in several internationally distributed BMX videos and a documentary on Arnold Palmer, "The King's Army," which aired March/April of 2004 on the Golf Channel. Stupid genius was the radio DJ, spinning for Champion Sound's radio show on 91.3 WLVR in Bethlehem, PA. Currently, genius roams between FL & the NorthEast (PA, NYC) working with artists in both regions and composing/producing everyday and every night...

-Logic Pro 7 (including frequent use of many soft synths)

Stupid Genius is also seeking alternative means of success within the music industry. This includes placement in radio and television commercials, as well as film and television productions.

"The media is trying to capitalize on culture, a culture born from a voice that has historically been suppressed and by nature would prefer to change the current establishment of social inequities. That being said, there are so many people getting paid on the creative side of the table. We all want to earn, so we compromise. The compromise does not have to involve catering to the whims of an executive who has no true sense of the power of hip-hop and what it represents. We artists have to hustle to get heard, but it comes down to the power of your product. If it is truly FIRE, and you start breaking norms and powerfully setting trends in a positive direction, the executives will have no choice but to chase you down, because you will have precisely what they want to capitalize on."

Stupid Genius is currently working on a project with rapper Big Co, a fellow Central Floridian.

"Working with Co has been a thrill, he is a crazy individual with his head on straight, and he spits from the heart. He has become family to me. Believe me, he is not a fake MC who puts glorified imagery in his rhymes just to sound dope or just to make a line rhyme, this cat is the real deal. He has that natural charisma necessary for a rapper to blow up, and it's only a matter of time. Watch out for The Fratelli in 2006, Stupid Genius is going all the way in this game with Big Co."
